I hope this finds you and your families well and staying safe. Just a few bits of info for you:
Hike to the Moon
It has been great to see so many Scouts take part in the Hike to the Moon over the past week and together Scouts across the UK have covered the distance to the moon and raised over £300,000 for BBC Children in Need and Comic Relief.
Badges are now available for you to pre-order from the Scout Store.
We have checked with Teresa Ginn, Hampshire Scouts’ Deputy County Commissioner for Programme, and she said that they can be worn on your uniform for 6 months.
Important all members’ online meeting
Yesterday evening, Team DC listened into a HQ webinar with some important updates and it is important that they now update you all too.
All parts of the Scout movement, locally and nationally, are being adversely affected by COVID-19. To help you understand more about this serious and developing situation, they’d like to brief you on how it’s impacting Scouts in a special all members online meeting this week.
Please click here to join on 29 April from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. This call replaces the one originally scheduled for 12 May.
Importantly, they will be explaining the financial impact, locally and nationally, and how they’re supporting young people and communities most in need. As they will be discussing strictly confidential information they will not be able to share the recording of this meeting, so please do join in live.
Hampshire Scouts are proud of you!
We have been delighted to see our Districts step up to the challenge of keeping the everyday adventure going strong online – thank you.
Adult volunteers from across your District have really played a positive role in:
- Keeping young people connected – through interactive Scout activities
- Supporting with lots of positive press – especially from the BBC and local newspapers
- Getting more people than ever before engaged with the Scouts… through initiatives such as #TheGreatIndoors
The Queen’s official representative, Hampshire’s HM Lord-Lieutenant, has written to Scouts across the county to praise the movement for its efforts in uncertain times.
The work of adult volunteers does not go unrecognised, so please do pass this onto your groups to circulate. Together, we’re making a huge difference in moving forward and looking positively into the future
