Cubs

Cub Scouts is one of our most popular sections, made up of girls and boys aged between 8 and 10½ years of age. 

Cubs scouts are really active, learning new skills, getting creative in all forms and spending time in the community. They explore the world around them, their beliefs and other cultures. They can be found in the outdoors or spending time away from home but most of all have the time of their lives.

Cubs in our District.

As well as this, Cub Scouts have opportunities to take part in other big events. Each year they can go on pack holidays or camps and take part in much larger events with other Cubs from the district, from Hampshire or from across the country.

Each year we take part in big events with other Cubs such as a 5-a-side football tournament and a scrap heap challenge. We also go along to some events like the annual Swimming Gala and the Soap Box Derby like some of the other sections.

In our District, the Cubs and their leaders are supported by our Assistant District Commissioner – Section Support (Cubs), Richard White.

Strive and achieve!

Cub Scouts can earn loads of different badges covering a variety of skills:

Activity Badges all offer a chance to try a different skill; from artist to skater, book reader to home safety, martial arts to local knowledge. There is something for everyone to try and many can be done from home. Or improve at a skill over time with a Staged Activity Badges. From musician to swimmer, first aid to sailing they are core skills to any individual. They also keep track of the number of nights and hikes away a young person has completed.

The highest award a Cub Scout can work towards is the Chief Scout’s Silver Award. To reach this, Cubs earn Challenge Awards to really push them in every part of the programme. Chances are every Cub will complete several by the time they move to Scouts.
