Explorer’s Update
An exciting week for the Explorer scouts this week as they launch their Gambia 20-21 Expedition. Everyone is welcome to go along to the Magellan Den / Copythorne Scout HQ for 19:30 on Wednesday 23rd October, where the Magellan leaders will tell you all about this fabulous opportunity.
Congratulations and well done to these Explorer scouts from Lyndhurst Explorer Scout Unit who achieved their DofE awards. Jack H and Flo S-K who achieved their Silver DofE award and Millie R, Millie H and Thomas A achieved their Bronze DofE award.
Congratulations again for earning your awards. Also appreciation to the Explorer leaders for training and supporting our DofE participants.
Adult Training Opportunities
There are still spaces on the following residential training courses:
- Ferny Crofts, 26th – 27th October – Modules 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19
- Runway’s End 2nd – 3rd November – Modules 5, 7, 8, 9, 12a, 12b, 16
If you need to do your Wood Badge learning then please book on, there is no cost to attend, they are good fun and the food is fab! If you can’t make these take a look at the 2020 dates. To book and look for other dates is here.
New Roles
Due to a change in circumstances Nicky Cully has been unable to take up the Explorer Scout Leader (Young Leader) role, however Kevin Harmer has stepped forward and offered to take the role. Our thanks to Kevin for volunteering to do this.
We have 3 new County Training Advisors, we welcome Mike Ferris, Steven Osborn and Simon Down. All 3 attended their Module 25 – Assessing Learning module at the weekend. Thank you for taking this role and completing the training.
We also have a new District Nights Away Advisor, Simon Down has agreed to take on this role, our thanks to Simon for doing this.
4th Eling
With donations from the local Co-op with the blue card loyalty scheme and a grant from the Royal Navy, 4th Eling take delivery of their new 3.1 metre Rib and trailer. Jim can be seen busy adjusting the trailer to fit.
Other Bits
Available for a small sum, several brand new 70 metre lengths of 14mm polypropylene rope. Please contact Robin Mair for more details.
The 1st Lyndhurst had a great time at the Ferny Crofts Fright Night at the weekend, the Scouts camped all weekend and the Beavers on Saturday. Did anyone else do Fright Night? Some pictures and a few words for next week’s eNews would be fab.
