Beaver Community Evening

Last week the 1st Lyndhurst Beavers held a community event at St. Michael’s & All Angels Church. They have been working hard towards their Community Impact Badge and certainly were working hard taking guest’s orders and delivering the tea and cake back. They did a great job of connecting with the community and helping to combat loneliness when the nights draw in.

Lynn of Team DC and Sarah Stride, 5th Testwood Scout sectional assistant both sent good reports and thoroughly enjoyed their cake and coffee. Well done goes to the Beaver Scouts themselves and their leaders Grace & Neil.

Young Leaders – Dates for your Diary

Friday 17th July
Friday 20th November

There is also a locally run Module B-K residential weekend planned for the 12th-13th September at 1st Lyndhurst, Deorfrith Lodge. Booking is directly with Kevin on [email protected]

Wood Badge

Lynn recently popped along to the Scouts at 5th Testwood and presented Sarah Stride with her Wood Beads and certificate.

Originally earned in 2006, there was a mix up at HQs which has now thankfully been resolved meaning her hard work has paid off. Well done Sarah and I hope it was worth the wait!

Mandatory Ongoing Learning

It’s important that we keep all our Scouts safe and happy and that our volunteers know what to do if something goes awry. That’s why all our volunteers are required to keep up to date on First Aid, safety and safeguarding training.

Safety is online e-learning, Safeguarding may be done as e-learning, however, face to face courses are recommended. First Aid is now blended learning, the first part is via e-learning and then 2 hours course based.

The County Training Team are running all 3 courses on Sunday 12th January at 1st Lyndhurst, Deorfrith Lodge. With First Aid (9am-11.30am), Safety (12pm-2pm) and Safeguarding (2.30pm-4.30pm). If you have not completed this learning, it is out of date or due to expire in early 2020, this is the link to book your place.
