Remembrance Parades & Services

A big thank you to all those who attended Remembrance Parades and Services across the district on Sunday.

I understand from the DCs and ADC representatives that there was a fantastic turnout and everyone looked smart, a real credit to the District. When you consider the weather we had on Saturday we were extremely lucky, cold is better than cold and very wet!

With four events in Lyndhurst, Copythorne, Totton and Netley Marsh, we had hundreds of scouts showing their respect this weekend. Thanks go to Robin, respresenting the district at Lyndhurst, Ian at Netley Marsh, Lynn at Copythorne and Simon Down, ADC Scouts, who covered the Totton event.

Queen’s Scout Award

Picture – thanks to Paul Stubbington

On Sunday, Lynn attended the 2nd Copythorne, Stanley’s Own, Remembrance parade and service. There was a fantastic attendance showing the number of Scouts in the community.

We were also fortunate to have Martin Mackey, our County Commissioner, attend and present Rory Saunders with his Queen’s Scout Award. A fantastic achievement and well deserved with Rory travelling down from Edinburgh to receive it from Martin and the Deputy Lieutatnt of Hampshire, the Hon Mrs Lovell JP DL.

Rory talked about his Queen’s Scout journey and I think inspired our other young people in the room to follow his lead. We were also provided with copious amounts of cake & refreshments, a very enjoyable day.

Mandatory Training (First Aid, Safety & Safeguarding)

It’s important that all our volunteers have up to date knowledge of First Aid, safety and safeguarding so all our young people are kept safe.

A new date has been made available for mandatory training courses on Sunday 12th January 2020 at 1st Lyndhurst HQ. For those of you requiring training please follow this link and sign up to attend.

Founders Day Service

Joy Sellwood has reported the numbers at the Founders Day Service have dropped over the years and is asking if it is time to review the format of the service. She would appreciate your feedback on the event and what might be a good replacement. Please email Joy with your ideas.
