District Expedition
Welcome home to the District Expedition, I know you all had a fantastic time and our sincere thanks go to the leadership team for organising the experience for our young people.
Also thank you for all the Facebook updates and pictures so we could follow all your adventures from home. I am reliably informed a report is being prepared for next week’s eNews. Watch this space to find out about the skills learned in the lake district.
Upcoming events
Training Validation
For those of you who need training module validation, there is a validation drop in session on Tuesday 12th November. Just pop along to 1st Lyndhurst, Deorfrith Lodge, Wellands Road, Lyndhurst from 8:00pm.
There’ll be lots of different training advisors there to validate training and help you out. You can find the electronic version of the Adults Personal Files here if you need to look at what the requirements are.
Swimming Gala
Details for the District Swimming Gala on Saturday 23rd November 2019 at Totton Recreation Centre have been sent out. If you can return team sheets before the deadline of Friday 15th November that will be great, please send your replies to directly to Ian at [email protected]
Young Leader Update
We reported recently that Kevin Harmer recently took on the role of Explorer Scout Leader (Young Leaders) so he can support them all in their training and be the person to ask in the district.
You can now do that on a new email address to manage Young Leaders [email protected].
Suisse Adventure
Last chance to sign up for Suisse Adventure – Booking closes soon.
Suisse 2020 Summer Adventure is open to all Explorer and Network Scout members throughout Hampshire. The Summer Adventure trip runs between 8th -23rd August 2020. Camping at Kandersteg International Scout Centre, the two weeks are as packed or relaxing as you want with activities ranging from hill walking to river tubing to cheesery hikes.
Please note participants must be aged between 14 -24 on 1st August 2020. Head over to the Suisse website and start getting ready for adventure!
Funding Opportunities
Attached is a funding newsletter received via Southampton City Council. If you click on the Southampton City Council website you can subscribe yourself and receive a monthly update link to a document with lots of funding opportunities.
While not all of them are relevant for young people, or Scouting but some are. Some are area specific too but not all of them. Groups in the County have secured funding to pay for a carer to support additional needs 1:1 by applying for a grant from this link.
