Beaver Christingle

The district Beaver Christingle is this Wednesday 4th December at St. Anne’s Church, Calmore, and is open to any Beaver in the district. Starts at 6pm and only lasts an hour but with songs and sweets, it’s a great way to start the festive period.

Festive fun with Santa Run

The 5th (Testwood) held a fundraising day at ASDA Totton to promote the Santa run and Christmas Fayre (both Sunday 8th) and to help raise money to improve the HQ. They raised £933 with all sections playing their part. The Beavers especially gained a great amount of confidence speaking to people and resilience to stand still in the not too warm for so long!

It is not too late to register for the run and don’t forget to pop along to the Fayre in the Empire Hall and grab some Christmas goodies.

Group Finder – is your information up to date?

The Scouts digital team recently held a webinar about the re-vamped group finder on the Scouts website. Part of it includes pulling data from compass about every sections meeting place, time, day and whether it is term time only or all year round.

At the moment the groups in the district generally don’t have much or all of this information on Compass so it might be worth adding the details of your sections on to Compass to make the most of this new tool for people looking to join and volunteer in our area.

Stanley’s Own Christmas Concert

Stanley’s Own Scout & Guide Band are holding a Christmas concert and awards evening on the 12th December, and are inviting everyone along. The concert will be at St Mary’s Church, Copythorne, starting at 7.00pm and doors open at 6.30pm.

A correction:

Just to update you, it was the 37 years old birthday celebration for Cadnam River Beavers not 30 as put in the last eNews.

They are older than most other Beaver Scout colonies and the eldest in our district, due to them originally being a pilot trial for Beavers nationally being set up. So in 3 year’s time they will celebrate their 40th whereas nationally Beavers was 30 in 2016.
