New adult training dates

By Andy Chatwin, Training team

We have a set of Zoom courses in the calendar for 2023 to help our learners gain their Wood Badge before the new Adult Learning scheme is introduced in 2024/25.

These may be the final ones or there may be some next year, this will depend on the numbers needing to complete under the old scheme and how the plans for the new adult learning scheme develop.

This is the link to book the sessions: Training Calendar – Hampshire Scouts – Adult Training

What’s been happening?

The term has barely begun and there is already so much happening across our district! Here are some of the things that’s been taking place which you may have missed:

Four of our Scout Network members and adult volunteers celebrated their Queen or King’s Scout Awards in Winchester:

Baloo’s Bench, a memorial to Rich Foster of 6th Netley Marsh was unveiled at Woodlands Campsite:

We’ve mentioned the expedition to The Gambia and Kaira Konko Lodge last month but since then they’re work has featured on the Gambian National News!

Soap Box Derby returned with some new tweaks to the format. The weather was kind and we’ve got big ideas for next year:

For those who missed the scores, you can find them below. Congratulations to 2nd Copythorne and 3rd Ringwood for winning your races.

Volunteers from New Forest trailed up 18 new Young Leader from across the county in Lyndhurst last weekend:

It was the county Squirrels Fun Day on Saturday with nearly 300 Squirrels getting involved, including the new Drey at 5th Testwood:

The summer has seen many of our Scouts across the district having their own adventures. 1st Fordingbridge shared some of their highlights:

Sandleheath even had the mayor along for their AGM and to celebrate the achievements of their young people this year:

Beavers

What is a month (or so) in the life of Netley Marsh Beavers?

Well, their volunteer Beaver Scout Leader Emma kindly sent us their tale which you can read on our website. It’s full of activities, adventures, and even a camp too.

And finally our upcoming District Expedition has a new badge:

Congratulations to Joshua Owens of Ashurst and Colbury who’s expedition badge design will now go off to be produced for all those attending this year’s Expedition

That’s all for this month. Remember you can stay up to date with what’s going on on our Facebook page (/newforestscouts) or Instagram (@newforestscouts).
