Explorers

This report is part of a series from members across the district for the Annual General Meeting to be held online on 8th July 2020.

May 2019 through till Sept was mainly our boating season on Testwood Lakes. Sailing, rafting and kayaking/canoeing were on offer. We had to make a few changes when the lake shut, with a bike ride. We entered the Solent Sailing Regatta with one entrant in Explorer’s sailing and came away with the win after 3 races. Winter was indoor activities such as murder mystery, baking, mini pioneering. Then the joint Christmas activities with the District. Ice skating, crafts, quiz and film nights.

Start of this year: Some wide games, navigation hike, pancakes, baking, classic scout games, climbing and ringos.

Since lockdown I have been emailing the Explorers each week and trying a zoom meeting every other week now, just to keep in touch and making sure they are staying on track with some D of E progress. We started the lockdown with 20 Explorers, but a few probably won’t return after and some will have moved on up.
