New Forest North Scout Active Support Unit

This report is part of a series from members across the district for the Annual General Meeting to be held online on 8th July 2020.

We are 13 in number still and we are an active bunch despite most of us being on the wrong side of 60!

Between us we have clocked up 480 years of Scouting! We have 5 members who have been awarded the Silver Acorn plus one who has received the Silver Wolf. Six of us also have other Scouting roles as well as being a member of the Active Support Unit. No wonder we are busy!

Since the last AGM, we have helped at the Eling Donkey Derby, Copythorne and Netley Marsh carnivals, Elm Tree Trophy for Scouts, District Swimming Gala, Testwood’s Santa Run, and the Beavers’ Fawn Trophy. Unfortunately the Soap Box Derby had to be cancelled due to the grass being to soggy and dangerous.

On 23 February this year we again organised and hosted the Founder’s Day lunch for adults in the District. This year we had a Skittles match and all those who came enjoyed it but it is a shame that more people do not attend.

As everyone knows that due to the Coronavirus, Scouting events from March this year have been cancelled or re-arranged for a date nearer the end of the year with a hope that by then we would have got through these very challenging times. When we do have District or Group events again you can be sure that we shall be there to help if needed.
