What do they do?
The District Volunteering Development Team makes sure all volunteers in their District have a positive and enjoyable volunteering experience.
They make it easy for people to join and learn new skills.
The part our Volunteer Development Team play
As Scouts, we plan ahead and we support each other. Our volunteers are the very reason we can help young people learn skills for life. They need to be supported and prepared with the right knowledge and inducted well so they can make a flying start. The Volunteering Development team ensures each of our volunteers receives a warm welcome, is prepared with the right learning for their role and recognised for their achievements.
Team Lead
The Team Leader of the Volunteer Development Team is Julie Mair. Julie has long supported volunteers as a Group Lead Volunteer, Trainer and Training Adviser so our volunteers have the skills they need to be truly inspirational. Above all, she knows what it takes to be a brilliant volunteer, and by leading the team is helping set the new direction for volunteer support in New Forest.
Sub-Teams
There are three sub-teams within the Volunteering Development team. They focus their efforts into some of the aims of the team. The team’s volunteers may be in more than one or even none of the sub-teams, but all contribute to help.
Welcome
Our volunteers deserve a warm welcome and to be inducted into their role quickly and confidently. This team hold welcome to Scouting chats and support others so great inductions take place across the district.
Learning
This team help volunteers access the learning they need, so they know where to find it and help deliver some of the more practical learning opportunities. They include the former Training Advisors of the district.
Awards and Recognition
From saying thank you to Good service awards, this team ensure our volunteers are recognised for their hard work. Moreover, they support those completing the award applications.
