What do they do?
The District Support Team gives tools and resources to help Scouts run smoothly.
The part our Support Team play
From supporting directly at events, to helping out behind the scenes and maintaining our physical and digital assets, the team play their part to support our various volunteers. By keeping things running smoothly, they keep pressure off the volunteers who work with our young people.
Team Lead
The Team Leader of the Support Team is Steven Osborn. From helping volunteers and Young Leaders find their full potential, to telling our Scouting stories to the public, Steven has gotten stuck into Scouting for a number of years. He also offers his time doing these at county level as well as being a lead volunteer within the district.
Sub-Teams
There are five sub-teams within the Support team. The team’s volunteers may be in more than one or even none of the sub-teams, but all contribute to help.
Scout Active Support
Our established Scout Active Support team allow volunteers who can’t commit regularly to help at events and try new things themselves.
Campsite
From maintenance and development to ensuring the smooth running of our District Campsite, Harry’s Island. Includes looking after the equipment, making sure we work within the rules and we contribute to the District.
Admin support
Includes the volunteers who keep the district ticking behind the scenes including our Secretary, minute takers, badge secretary and Treasurer.
Inclusion
When done right, Scouting is for all. This sub-team help our volunteers with understanding the additional needs of their Scouts and what reasonable adjustments they can make.
Media and Communications
Manage and maintain the technology and communication channels of the District including our website and social media accounts. Tell our Scout stories through the Tails of the New Forest newsletter and externally in the media.
