What do they do?
The District Programme Team helps every section in the District run a safe, enjoyable and quality programme.
To help do this, they bring Section Team volunteers together with activity experts.
The part the Programme Team play
Across our District in twelve locations, young people of all ages are learning skills for life through their Scout programme. The Programme Team work alongside the local volunteers so that young people experience the best Scouting activities and our leaders are supported to deliver them.
Team Lead
The Team Leader of the Programme Team is Simon Down. Simon has been Scouting for many years and is passionate about preparing our volunteer leaders with the practical skills they want and need to lead adventurous, fun and exciting activities. He steps up, jumps in and is ready with sage guidance when needed.
Sub-Teams
There are a number of sub-teams within the Programme team. They focus their efforts into some of the aims of the team. The team’s volunteers may be in more than one or even none of the sub-teams, but all contribute to help.
Squirrels
Supporting the volunteers in the Squirrel Dreys across the District and helping to run District events so Squirrels can meet others and make friends.
Nights Away
Supporting volunteers to include nights away in their Section’s programme and helping volunteers gain their Nights Away Permits.
Beavers
Working with the volunteers in the Beaver Colonies in the District and helping to coordinate District events so Beavers can take part and learn new skills.
Expedition
Help young people experience adventurous activities and expedition skills, often through the District Expeditions.
Cubs
Helping volunteers from the Cub Packs across the District work together, and helping to run District events where needed to help deliver the programme.
Water Activities
Bringing our water-based Adventurous Activity Permit holders together so young people can experience the freedom of time on the water.
Scouts
Bringing Scout Troops and their volunteers together at District events so our Scouts can learn the skills and earn the badges they need for their Top Awards.
Skills Instructors
Our Adventurous activity permit holders and practical skills instructors who support our young people to reach new heights and learn new skills.
