HQ Accessibility Information - 6th (Netley Marsh)

At the Scouts we’re open to all and we do all we can to include people in our activities. These guides help give you some information about accessing our headquarters to help you and our leaders make informed decisions and to help improve things for the future.

Getting here

We are located in St. Matthew’s Church Hall off the A336 Ringwood Road. Find directions to the HQ on Google Maps.

Public transport
Nearest bus stop	The White Horse (opposite) towards Totton and The White Horse (adjacent) towards Woodlands – 30m from entrance.
Bus routes	Bluestar T3 and T4 route circular to Totton and nearby villages occasionally on Tuesday and Thursdays.
Bus shelter?	Stop opposite White Horse – Yes with seat. Stop adjacent to White Horse – no.
Buses accessible?	Yes. Stop opposite White Horse has a raised kerb. Low floor buses used on route.
Private hire?	Accessible to private hire vehicles.
Walking and cycling
Footpath access	Yes alongside main roads. Nearby public footpath access over fields to Foxhills.
Cycle access	No specific cycle routes in area but roads in the village have 30mph limit.
HQ pedestrian entrance	Yes.
Parking
Car parking?	Yes. 20-30 spaces on hard gravel.
Accessible spaces?	No. Plenty of spaces close to the door. No markings so drivers can leave as much space as they need.

Getting in and moving around

Main entrance
Step free access?	Yes. Slight concrete ramp. Handrails fitted.
Automatic doors?	No.
Wide doors?	No. Left hand door not usually open but volunteers can pin it open if needed for access.
Other entrances/exits
Step free access?	Side exit: No. 5-10cm step down onto training ground with no handrail.
Wide doors?	Yes. Double doors open through push bar internally.
Indoor space
Step free access?	All major rooms on one level, most accessed directly from the hall. The room has a raised stage accessed by steps.
Wide doors?	Double doors from entrance vestibule into hall, otherwise all single doors.
Wide corridors?	No.

Facilities

Toilets
Toilets	Accessible, female and male toilets are available and clearly signed.
Wheelchair access?	Accessible WC has room for a chair to move around, handles for support.
Alarm?	No.
Hard of hearing
Hearing loop?	No.
Visual fire alarm?	No. It is the responsibility of the leader in charge to check for users when evacuating.
Contents
Flexible layout	Collapsible tables allow for flexibility of layout.
Catering facilities	Sinks, cookers and kettle all available to hall users.
Environment
Lighting	Artificial lighting in every room in addition to daylight. Curtains on the windows in main hall.
Temperature	Radiators in the hall. There is no way to cool the HQ.
