Leading a camp can be hard enough so we want to make your life easier.
That’s why we have a number of facilities for anyone staying on site to keep things easy and manageable for both you and our volunteers.
We favour simple, back to basics camping so everything is set up to help you for this. After all, getting back in touch in nature is a key skill for any young person to learn.
Camping field
The bulk of our 4 acre site is our camping field complete with water points at multiple points along the edge of the site. At the top of the field are our main facilities, along with a lookout point, perfect for our camping leaders to keep an eye on their young people while allowing their independence.
There is a small camping area at the top of the field, ideal for leaders camping or for winter camping, on the terrace.
The field also has a flag pole, cooking areas and camp oven ready to use.
We also have an area set aside for those quiet moments, be they Scout’s Owns, quiet reflection, moments of listening or if a young person wants a moment. With benches and surrounded by trees, its a tranquil area set aside from the camping area.
Amenities
For your activities and dining, we have a marquee permanently set up at the top of the site with tables, chairs and picnic benches to use.
We have a covered patio area to use in all weathers and light levels with a whiteboard and noticeboard, perfect as the central point for camp activity.
There is an indoor, easy to clean kitchen area for preparing food complete with upright fridges and freezers, sinks and work surfaces. Much easier to use than setting up your own kitchen tent. All you need is your own cookers and you’re good to go.
We also have a number of multi-use toilets and showers, complete with hot water showers and washbasins. These are separated into boys and girls.
Other facilities
In addition the Scouts Own area (mentioned above), we also have a campfire circle perfect for singing songs or gathering together in the evenings.
We have a lockable under cover shelter, perfect for bikes or other bulky equipment.
