As the summer season draws to a close, many of our young people from across the District have been spending time on summer camps, expeditions and adventures over the past few months. Join us as we take a look at all the various skills learned and friendships formed.

Awards and Adventure at 3rd Ringwood Group Camp
A fourth-generation King’s Scout, a Chief Scout’s Acorn Award, and a quintet of volunteer good service awards top off an amazing weekend of fun and activities. We wrote about it just at the beginning of the summer so do check it out if you missed it.
A joined up Scout camp
Earlier this year we identified a problem facing some of our Scouts: their lovely volunteer leaders didn’t have the skills to put on a Scout summer camp just yet. So instead, several troops joined forces to put on their own summer camp with activities at the lovely Youlbury Scout Adventures in Oxfordshire in July.
Myths and Legends at 4th Eling
The whole group at 4th Eling Sea Scouts were treated to a very special Group Camp at Ferny Crofts filled with mythical beasts, magical and legendary tales, olympics and more theming than you can shake a trident at. Take a look below:
Action-packed adventure filled Group Camp for Fordingbridge
1st Fordingbridge took to Ferny Crofts Scout Activity Centre just recently in late September for a camp filled with plenty of adventurous activity for all ages from 6-17 years sleeping over for fun and friendship:
Sandleheath take to the water at Woodmill
Meanwhile their neighbours 1st Sandleheath Sea Scouts visited Woodmill Outdoor Centre in Southampton for a Scout troop summer camp with plenty of water activities:
A Silver DofE expedition on the River Thames!
Some of the Explorers of Avon Valley Explorer Scout Unit meanwhile ventured a little further afield onto the River Thames for a DofE Silver level expedition by canoe over three days! Fantastic efforts all round.
The power of friendship at Foxlease
Taken straight from the page of how to create a fun and friendly atmosphere! 2nd Stanley’s Own Zulu Cubs invited a fully booked Foxlease to join in with them at the Zulu Campfire and it was a great success with over 100 Scouts and Guides from around the UK all in one place. In the words of George in their leader team, that is what scouting is all about!
We’re sure there were more adventures and fun that we just didn’t know about, but we can be sure the young people at the heart of these events got so much more from the experience. The biggest of thank yous to every volunteer who made them happen.
