Our first District Squirrels Scout sleepover

Squirrels from Copythorne, Fordingbridge, Lyndhurst, Ringwood and Testwood attended their first New Forest District Squirrels Camp this weekend (29th/30th March). We all had a great time, especially Etta and her mum from 1st Fordingbridge, who wrote us this update of the event.

Last weekend my daughter Etta-May (aged 5) went on her first overnight scouts Squirrel camp at Sandlehealth scout hut. She had so much fun and did lots of activities including a woodland walk, pirate activities, playing games in the field with other Squirrels and singing songs around a camp fire.

For me it was great to see her thrive in such a lovely supportive environment. It was her first time camping overnight away from home and she enjoyed staying in a tent with other children. The social aspect of the weekend was brilliant for her, making and developing new friendships. She also had the chance to experience new activities such as the camp fire. The leaders were very supportive and understanding of Etta’s individual needs, making sure she was included in every activity and having fun.

Etta says

“I really liked squirrels camp and playing with my friends. I liked going on a walk and sleeping in a tent. I had so much fun”

We look forward to many more adventures with the Scouts!
